about

This was my second ever release and I was fortunate that q-tone records -- a small netlabel decided to do a small pressing of CDs for that release in a really cool format.

Listening back to this I obviously would have done stuff differently if I'd do the same thing now but but there are still some gems on this one.

The whole album was written, recorded and mixed between late december 2008 and late february 2009 and subsequently released.

Conceptually I've approached this as a guitar-only free-improvisation album with as few overdubs as necessary and I wanted to to write and record every piece in one day. Apart from the process itself each of the pieces chord-progression are based on certain Slonimsky patterns (from the book 'Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns'.

Since there were no real edits or rehearsals and since I specifically did not try out the method beforehand I think there's a noticable learning curve in the album with the pieces getting more well-balanced as the time goes on.
