about

This project was conceived of as a soundtrack to a horror video game set in a japanese village. Sadly the development of the game got canned and I was stuck with motifs, ideas and soundscapes I really grew fond of -- especially since I've already associated them with the different locations of the now cancelled game.

I decided to flesh out the ideas and develop them into a short LP and give each of these ideas room to evolve into what I had in mind for them. The aim was to combine what I enjoy about japanese music with noise elements, heavy use of guitars and harmonic ambiguity. Besides guitars/stringed instruments (electric and acoustic, violin and bass), synths, granular sampling and electronic elements, I've used orchestral elements in some of the arrangements to induce some sort of "chamber - orchestra" setting to contrast the modernity of the other instruments.

With this I hope to evoke the same kind of magical moods and pictures in the listener that I tried to provide a musical background for.
